He is the infamous $$60,000,000,000 man and a formidable gunslinger whose skills reach superhuman territory. He is also accused of causing a lot of property damage. Despite his fearsome reputation, he is actually a pacifist who goes out of his way to avoid killing anyone and even prevents others from killing each other. Much of the damage comes from people trying to take him out and get the bounty on his head. He often acts like a sleazy and goofy ditz in order to prevent people from figuring out who he is. In reality, he is quite serious, introspective, and philosophical. Meryl Strife, Milly Thompson, and Nicholas Wolfwood gradually learn of Vash's true nature as they accompany Vash throughout the story and the three of them become Vash's closest friends. He is also the philosophical opposite of his brother Millions Knives who has a complicated relationship with him. Knives hates Vash's ideals and everything Vash stands for, but he seems more interested in proving his brother's ideals wrong as opposed to killing him. He is voiced by Onosaka_Masaya (1998 anime and Badlands Rumble) and Matsuoka_Yoshitsugu (Trigun Stampede). In English, he is voiced by Johnny_Yong_Bosch, and this was the role that started his transition from a live action actor most known for his Power Rangers work, to a popular voice actor for anime English dubs. Bosch has played Vash in all subsequent appearances in English.
